About Us

The farm inside all of us… Whether you are a third-generation number cruncher or Air Force Sergeant, your family roots are in farming. That’s our story also. From the horse farms of Europe and the orchards of Georgia, Spruceberry Farm keeps these roots of our family tree alive today.

Before our first tree was planted, we started volunteering at other Christmas tree farms to learn what they did well, and what could be improved. It was about our fourth or fifth day when we got in the car to come home and we turned to each other and said, something must change. This is not Christmas. We consistently saw cars pulling up with dads behind the wheel, white-knuckled and red-faced, mom in the passenger seat almost in tears, screaming at the kids in the back seat, and the kids still asking, “Are we there yet?”. They all pile out and grab the first tree they see. Dad gets in the car glad it's over, mom strapping the kids in the back seat, feeling glad it's over, and the kids crying because mom and dad did not pick the tree they wanted and sad because it’s over. It was at that moment we turned our focus from being a Christmas tree farm to a family fun destination with Christmas trees.

We believe in locally grown, freshly produced food, true brews, good people, and family. Our dream is to offer a relaxing farm experience, great events, and fantastic agricultural products. We combine growing, harvesting, and processing fruit, vegetables, honey, and, yes, Christmas Trees into products with a relaxing, interactive eco-friendly farm experience.  Creating fermented beverages, and delicious food from the best ingredients, planted, tended and picked by us right here, developing a real authenticity in taste. Our goal is that visitors to our farm may gain an appreciation for small farm production, the benefits of Virginia agriculture, and the drive home centered around the whole family asking, “When can we come back?”.
